I did this over the winter, then gave it to Colbert just before the show, a few days before I moved out of my dorm and left NY.
By some miracle my friend Paul and I got in on standby, so I'm raising my hand all through Colbert's pre show Q and A, stomach full of butterflies, and wouldn't you know it, he didn't call on me-- he says ok lets start the show. So I'm deflating in the corner and the stage hands, who knew me at this point cause I'd been coming for weeks trying to get in and had seen the painting, they said, "One more!" and pointed to me. So Colbert goes, ok, you with the poster! And I stand up and manage to say "I did this painting of you and I wanted to give it to you!" And fwush, unroll the thing, and his eyes lit up in that way that they do.. He said hey come down here, and he led me infront of the audience and I held the thing up, and everyone just exploded cheering! Then asked me my name. Rebecca Sugar, I said, voice cracking like a 13 year old boy, to which he replied "Oh, Sugar Sugar."
Anyway, I'm way too much of a Colbert fangirl. Oh and I got a shirt! So that's my story.
THAT'S SO AWESOME. Colbert is amazing. That's so awesome. I've done paintings of bands I like but I've never been able to give them to them. Wow..that's really great.
And the painting itself is brilliant. Wonderful colors and it looks just like him.

I met a very very very teeny guy
Little coat, little pants
When he spoke to me
It made me dance..
